ANOTHER AMAZING EXPERIENCE OF QUITO

If you have an extra day in Quito, we can take you to other fantastic places where you can see more of our patrimonial city.

CABLE CAR (TELÉFERICO) - In a journey of about 18 minutes, you will cover a distance of 2.5 km, flanked by the mountainside. You will definitely feel the effects of rapidly ascending more than 1,000 meters from platform to platform, as you fly over three micro-climates: the Andean Forest, a sea of shrubs, and the Andean moor.

The view of Quito during the trip on the Teleférico of Quito is spectacular, but nothing compared to the view offered once we reach the top. From them you will be able to see the full extent of Quito, the valley of Los Chillos, San Rafael and Machachi. On a clear day you will be able to observe an imposing chain of volcanoes: From Atacazo to Cayambe, passing through Corazón, Ilinizas, Cotopaxi, Pasochoa, Rumiñahui and Antisana.

Bring proper clothing: the temperature can drop rather quickly down to 6 degrees Celsius and there is a permanent cold wind that comes off of the mountain. It is best to wear a jacket and other warm clothing!

Wear sunscreen: The sun is extremely strong on the top of the mountain. Without sunscreen you could get burnt in the matter of minutes!

Bring liquids and snacks: Many people get quickly affected by the altitude. It is best to be prepared with bottles of sports drink and snacks that offer a good source of carbohydrates.

* Tour can be done every day since 09:00 up to 17:30
Fares: $8,90 per person ($4,90 Ecuadorians)

Guayasamin's living presence can be felt inside the museum. The visual and emotional impact of his paintings is overwhelming. Nevertheless, in order to understand his work, it`s important to visit the residence museum, the house where he lived during the last twenty years of his life. All his personal stuff is still there, untouched. The layout is unchanged. And, in the studio, the master can be easily imagined, hard at work on his paintings.

Tour can be done from Monday to Saturday
(Sundays and Holidays: the museum is closed)
Entrance to Guayasamin House and Museum: $ 10 per person. (Seniors: $ 5)

There are tapestries made by the Salasaca Indians, weavings from Otavalo, jewels from Chordeleg, Panama hats from Cuenca and Manabi, among hundreds of other pieces of art made by Ecuadorian skilled men and women.
