DISCOVERING THE ENCHANTING CRATER OF QUILOTOA
Nestled high in the Ecuadorian Andes, the Crater of Quilotoa is a spectacular destination that mesmerizes visitors with its surreal beauty and rich cultural heritage. This water-filled caldera, formed from a volcanic eruption over 800 years ago, is now a shimmering turquoise lake surrounded by dramatic cliffs and rugged terrain, making it a must-visit spot for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
The main attraction is, of course, the Quilotoa Lake itself. The 3-kilometer-wide crater hosts a serene lake with a distinct greenish-blue hue, caused by dissolved minerals. The panoramic view from the rim is breathtaking, offering a sight of the vibrant lake contrasting starkly against the stark volcanic landscape.
In our tour we will visit:
The ceramic community of “La Victoria”
The small town of Tigua.
The Toachi Cañón.
Zumbahua Market (only Saturday)
The Quilotoa Lake.
